Introduction to Self-Regulating Electric Trace Heating Cable
Self-regulating electric trace heating cable adopts innovative conductive polymer technology. Its heating element consists of a mixture of polymer and conductive carbon black. The conductive paths formed by this special composite material enable electric current to flow between the parallel bus wires along the entire length of the trace heating cable.
The number of conductive paths between the bus wires inside each trace heating cable varies with temperature changes. If the ambient temperature surrounding the electric heat tracing cable drops, the conductive core will undergo a certain degree of contraction, the resistance will decrease, the number of conductive paths between busbars will increase, and the cable power will increase, compensating for the temperature of the surrounding environment of the heat tracing cable
Conversely, as the ambient temperature rises, the conductive core expands, the resistance increases and the number of conductive paths between the bus wires decreases, lowering the cable power output and correspondingly reducing thermal compensation supplied to the surroundings of the trace heating cable.
